People don’t mind standing in line 20 minutes or more (up to 1 hour) to get their cupcakes.

Celebrities can be seen lining for them in Beverly Hills.

Oprah Winfrey, Katie Holmes, Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba

+ many other celebrities *hearts* their cupcakes…

They were served at the set of Desperate Housewife

and Suri Cruise’s birthday party.

Martha Stewart featured their cupcake in her “Our Fav cupcake” show

Food network features them a number of times…

So need I say more?

Since they are sooooo unbelievable famous good popular…

give me a reason why I as a self proclaimed foodie

shouldn’t try out their cupcake…

none right?

:D

Off we went to Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Sprinkles Dallas

Sprinkles 2

As we got nearer, we realized there was a long line of customers

in the store.

@_@

KS ( @_@): Queue-ing to BUY cupcakes?

My bro : OMG!! They are just cupcakes!

Me: quiet leh….

(quiet leh – quiet please)

Sprinkles line

By this time, the line were so long that their customers

were lining out the door into the sidewalk.

KS: I cannot believe I’m queue-ing for cupcakes. This better be good.

My bro: $#@!$#@ why so long de??

Me: ……… ( busy taking pics )

Initially we wanted to get 3 cupcakes…

( $3.50 for one cupcake )

but KS thought we ought to get a dozen ($36)

since we drove 45 mins and waited 30 mins in line for it…

we wanted our foodie friends to try it too…

My bro: !!!!!! $3.50 for a cupcake??!!!

Me: shhhhh…..

So we bought:

Banana – dark choco fosting x 3

Dark Chocolate x 3

Black & White x 2

Strawberry x 1

Red Velvet x 1

Vanilla x 1

Peanut butter chocolate x 1

And we gave…

Mr A & Mrs Cho : Banana & Dark Chocolate

Cousin JJ & Mr D : Banana & Dark Chocolate

Mr J & Miss Kitman : Banana & Black n White

The tasting:

The PINK – Strawberry cupcake

Generous amount of frosting…

BUT way way way too sweet for our liking.

Need to remove that overly sugared frosting

Cake was soft, moist and flavorful.

Dark Chocolate Cupcake

Again, frosting was too sweet for us…

but i love the chocolate sprinkles.

KS, Cousin JJ and Mrs Cho are dark chocolate fanatics

and they agreed that

the cake was rich in flavor and moist.

Knowing the frosting is going to be too sweet for my liking,

I started from the bottom.

I have never tried red velvet so i have no idea what it suppose to taste like…

After my first bite…

I love this tiny red cake!

The taste is good. Not too sweet, moist and it has a unique flavor.

My bro loves it too.

So will we go back to Sprinkles?

With fuel costing $3.89 per gallon

and

Sprinkles cupcakes $3.50 each ( $3.75 with tax )

I’m sure you are smart so…

you go figure.

i might try this though…

ST\'s Sprink

Available for sale at my favorite store

Williams Sonoma

so can you.

I believe everyone…

male or female,

young or old,

housewife, doctor or a plumber

can cook and bake.

To me,

I don’t think cooking idiots or baking idiots exist.

Well,

of course…

you got to get arm yourself with a good recipe…

detailed with good instructions

and get those ingredients right.

Yes, with that on hand…

you can never go wrong.

Trust me,

It’s just a walk in a park.

There are so many recipes on the web nowadays…

and so many hundreds I have listed down

on my “to try to cook/bake” list.

I get all excited looking at those delicious pictures of beautiful bakes/food,

reading the method

and shopping for those needed ingredients.

Well, that’s the happy part of the story…

The unhappy sad part is…

you read the method and comments a number of times (10x)…

you spent $$$ getting those quality ingredients…

+ time + energy to prepare it…

BUT

the bakes/food didn’t turn out as beautiful as you have thought they will be.

OR

near pretty to what you have seen on the

author’s website/blog or those cooking forums…

(provided you didn’t experience major hiccups in the process ok)

It is sad isn’t it?

but lesson learnt and you move on…

to the next recipe on your list.

:D

So nowadays,

before i bake or cook anything…

I will read a number of recipe ( 7 at least ) of the same food or bakes…

“Disappointed”

is not the word I want it to exist in

my cooking dictionary.

AND

I do not wish others to encounter

that same word

in their journey of making great food too.

So let’s say

NO

to unsuccessful UGLY bakes!

:)
